His interest in insects developed early but was sidetracked by theological studies until 1951, devising the removable frame hive. He worked early with Italian bees. Charles Dadant (b.1817, France) settled in Hamilton IL. A prolific author in bee journals, a manufacturer of "comb foundation" with his son, Dadant was an honorary member of over 20 international, bee-keeper organizations (from biographical chapter).
