The second of a three volume documentary history of naval operations in the War of 1812 and prepared by a senior historian at the Naval Historical Center, the Navy's official historical agency. It includes operations in the Great Lakes, Chesapeak Bay, Columbia River and elsewhere. Also included are letters and other papers reflecting British officer's plans and observations, those of private citizens, etc. Contains an index in the rear. Original publisher's gray cloth covers with gilt spine lettering and cover decoration. This is a clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. The dust jacket is worn with some marginal tears and wear; it is now in a removable, protective, acetate sleeve and looks quite presentable. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 779 pages .
