Tan 1/4 buckram, decorated cloth covered boards, top edge in gilt, deckled text block edges. Ex-library (non-circulating) with only modest wear, handwritten call number on lower spine, institutional book plate mounted on front pastedown, perforation stamps at top corner of front flyleaf and title page, stamp along bottom text block edge. Top corners slightly rubbed, bottom corners with mild exposure. Tan portions of cloth lightly soiled. xxvi,248 pp. No. 408 of an edition limited to 750 copies. Overall, a still not unattractive copy, primarily cosmetic blemishes, with clean text block..

Thirty-one are considered very rare with the only examples extant being in the Pepysian Collection at Magdalene College, Cambridge.

A first limited edition copy of this fascinating work, containing the Restoration period broadside ballads from the 'Jersey Collection', held at Osterley Park. With an introduction and notes by F. Burlington Fawcett. These ballads are named the 'Jersey Collection' as the location these ballads were taken from owned by the Earls of Jersey for centuries. Osterley Park is one of the largest open spaces in London. It is the home of a large mansion which is often referred to as 'Osterley House'. The house and grounds belonged to the Earls of Jersey for many years starting in 1785. The house was opened to the family in 1939 following the Second World War as there were many requests to see the house's historic interiors.
