A carefully revised second edition of a work that was first published in circa 1870, ( this preface is dated January 1873). An early book on birds and reptiles and their common ancestry and how they diverged using the radical theory put forth by Charles Darwin. Some rubbing to edges and top of spine. Spine slightly cocked. Previous owner's name to ffep. Foxing to front matter and page edges. Contents clean and binding sound. Good.
