Octavo (19 x 11), each in the publisher's soft covers printed with a design or notice celebrating the recent filming of the title, edges coloured red or yellow. No ink names or writing, Dr.No has a bookstore stamp and price in pesetas (likely Mexican), cheap paper toned as expected, some general wear to spines and covers. A very good set. Difficult to assembkle; includes the scarce version of 'You Only Live Twice' with the neon pink film label applied. A full set (as published) of the Signet movie tie-ins; the remaining Fleming books were either not issued as tie-ins [e.g. Moonraker, The Spy Who Loved Me] or were released as tie-ins by other publishers [Bantam, Jove and Berkley/Charter]. Octavo (19 x 11 x 19cm), each in the publisher's soft covers printed with a design celebrating the recent filming of the title. Some browning/toning to the cheap paperstock as expected. Some toning/sunning to spines, reading creases to same, light rubbing in places, owner name to 'Octopussy', ink stamps to 'Golden Gun' and 'The Living Daylights', small area of tip-ex to inside cover of 'Diamonds', remainder free from markings. A very good set, complete in this format; a further Fleming-Bond film tie-in would be issued by Penguin books for 'Casino Royale' (2006), but this was part of the larger-sized 'Modern Classics' series; the film tie-ins for The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker were not written by Fleming, and no UK tie-in was produced for A View To A Kill. Slight wear to edges of boards, prelims and page edges foxed, pages slightly browned otherwise a clean and sound copy, no inscriptions, in a foxed wrapper that is worn and rubbed to edges, slightly soiled to rear panel and with an area of roughness to the top margin of front panel and with light ring mark (from small vase?), and with small chips to head of spine. Contains the first appearance in print of this Ian Fleming essay, included in book form in Thrilling Cities, two years later. Ian Fleming's account of his recent trip to the Far East, researching for his next Bond novel. In a very good+ (or better) unclipped wrapper. This is the final proof dust wrapper. The dust wrapper is printed on slightly thicker paper stock, and is regarded as a final proof state. Future dust wrappers had the small front and rear flaps and were printed on slightly thinner paper. Rare

The first edition PAN X434 was published in the UK in 1965 with a cover by Raymond Hawkey and "Not for sale in the in the UK", 250,000 copies were printed in July 1965.
The second edition of PAN X434 were printed in 1966 and shipped with a movie tie-in cover replacing the Hawkey scorpion and pearl cover. PAN Books had remaining stock of the first printing of 1965 with the Hawkey cover and applied a wrap of the movie tie-in edition to the remaining 1965 copies.
There is no record as to how many of these variants were shipped by PAN, the majority of the authentic variants discovered over the years have been found in Australia.
This a good unread copy, has tanned pages and foxing. The foxing is on the inside of the cover and first page, first page has a vertical tanning section where the wrap faces, this tanning supports the authenticity of this being the actual book shipped with the wrapper and not swapped out for another copy, there is a remains clipping to the front cover.
