Bound in pictorial pale blue cloth with titles present to the spine and front board. Boards have light shelf-wear present to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. The travel account by Rosita Forbes (1890-1967) of her journey in the winter of 1920-21 across the Libyan desert to the oasis of Kufra. Only one European expedition, that of Gerhard Rohlfs in 1879, had previously visited Kufra; Forbes was the first foreign woman to do so. Forbes was an adventurer and explorer, who's life story was loosely made into the film "The Wind & the Lion" starring Sean Connery and Candice Bergen. E-149; 8.9 X 6.0 X 1.9 inches .
