Generally Very Good, with minor mottling. Rear cover of Volume 3 is badly scratched. Private bookplate and gift inscription in Volume One. Profusely illustrated with numerous b/w photographic plates supporting the text. Gilt embossed lettering to the spine. Light fading to the spine. Light bump to the tail of the spine and to the adjacent lower edge of the front board. One corner bumped, another lightly bumped. A few light stain marks to the upper fore edges, not affecting the page margins. Light foxing to the front and rear end papers and slightly to the paste downs. A light crease to the top inner corner of the front paste down, being a printers flaw. Figure 174 is lightly toned and light foxing to the upper margin of the page. A few pages have light dusty soiling to the upper margins. Otherwise clean and tight. A very good copy.
