Minor amount of foxing and offsetting. Two tissue-guards with tears, o/w. contents in fine condition. AEG. Original red-cloth boards with gilt lettering and blind-tooled decoration in vg. condition; spine shows some darkening with age, a little wear.

As Sowerby noted the work contains 700 figures on 24 plates with each item hand colored each with a printed explanatory leaf, and all with original tissue guards. Orig. gilt & blind stamped red pebbled cloth. On front endpaper is seal of Sowerby's shop and bound in at rear is a leaf of advertisements for Sowerby's natural history supply business. Bound in red embossed cloth lettered in gilt, spine plain, some staining to cloth, corners bumped, contemporary owner's name. A very nice copy.
