Bindings in original condition (with gilt-stamped macaw on front) but somewhat damaged at the spine and corners. Sewing of the bookblock weak and therefore some quires loose(ning). George Bell and Sons, 1884. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Sadly, volume 1 only. Complete with all plates. The original pressed boards are shelf rubbed and edge worn, with fraying to the corners and edges of the spine. They are otherwise strong and sturdy, with gold gilt to the front and spine. Internally, there are some ink inscriptions on the early pages, along with light, sporadic foxing throughout, but there are no other markings or inscriptions, and the pages within are neat and complete, with the illustrations still vibrant.
