Shows marginal handling marks of the cloth, spine very lightly toned, endpapers with a hint of toning, handsome former owner bookplate on the front paste-down, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text is clean and unmarked, and the boards remain distinct. As pictured.

One of six offerings in the handsome "Books About Books" series edited by Alfred W. Pollard. A scholarly yet entertaining study of the collecting of bookplates, one of the more interesting sub-manias of bibliophilia. The author examines the early use of bookplates in England, styles and types of bookplates , German, French and American bookplates, ladies bookplates and a section on book curses. A very good copy, tight with rubbing to the spine, offsetting to the endpapers and title page opposite the tissue guard. Quite interesting indeed.
