Description:
New York: Horace Liveright, 1929. Very Good condition. A clean, square copy. Bound in the original tan batik-paper covered boards (showing thick, dark fibers throughout) with a dark blue smooth cloth spine. Gilt lettering on the spine is a little dull, but still perfectly legible. Light rubbing/wear to corners and edges. Mild foxing to endpapers and only a few other pages. According to Schwartz & Schweik, just 250 copies of this second impression were printed, September, 1929. The title page, although still dated 1926, was changed to the Horace Liveright imprint with HL logo. [The first impression imprint was Boni & Liveright with BL logo. See HART CRANE, A DESCRIPTIVE BIBLIOGRAPHY for photos and descriptions of the different title pages]. Schwartz & Schweik A 1.2. The endpaper of this copy has the small pencil signature of Willard Thorp, presumably Professor Willard Thorp (1899-1990), literary historian, author, editor, critic, and Princeton University Holmes Professor of Belles… Read More

Description:
New York: Boni & Liveright, 1926. First Edition. Very Good. First edition, second issue with Allen Tate correctly spelled on the tipped-in title page. Signed by Hart Crane and inscribed to a former owner mere months before his suicide, "To Hanna with all good wishes, from Hart Crane Mexico '32." Bound in publisher's paper-covered boards over dark blue spine cloth. Very Good with rubbing to binding and gilt lettering on spine. Pages toned, and with a small bookseller's ticket (Brentano's) to the rear pastedown. Crane has been hailed by many as the most influential poet of his generation. The poet committed suicide at age 32, and books signed by him are uncommon.
