New York: Rinehart and Co, 1947. Hardcover. Part of the well-known series "Battle Report", beginning with the naval battle of the Coral Sea and continues through to the Battle of Empress Augusta Bay. Signed presentation copy, with humorous inscription signed Eric Purdon, and dated June 14, 1947: "this day the twelve (sic) anniversary of a highly important historical occasion, differs remarkably from the scene of this book, whose title, if it were an account of the celebration based on the anniversary, would be "Bottle Report". Tall 8vo, xiv, 434pp, b&w photographic ills, maps. Light gray cloth, gilt title, very good condition. In the pictorial dust jacket, chipped along top edge, ruffled, not price clipped, good condition.
