Dublin, Ireland: Hodges, Foster & Co, 1875. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Plus. Octavo, 8.7 in. x 5.8 in., pp. viii, 724. Illustrated with frontispiece and color fold-out map attached at rear endpapers. Brown, beveled cloth boards with double frame and decorative bar design stamped in black to front, and in blind to rear. Gilt title to spine. Black topstain. Rubbing to extremities with light soiling to boards. Corners lightly nudged. Spine and hinges tight. Foxingto half title/frontis and title page. Fold-out map (22.5 in. x 19.25 in.) has 4 in. closed tear at hinge and several small closed tears to seams at map's edges. Alexander Knox was born in 1802 at Eden Hill House, Edentrillick, Co. Down. He studied medicine in Edinburgh, and graduated in 1831. He was assistant surgeon in the Royal Navy before practicing in Dromore, Co. Down. He moved down to Ballycastle, Co.
