Some edge wear and a tear to cloth all down left side of spine. Narrow strips of cloth missing at spine ends. Rear hinge cracked. Some f of browning on endpapers, half-title and title pages but only occasional spots on other pages. No inscriptions. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall

Toronto: McClelland & Stewart Limited, 1935. Later Printing . Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. The interior of the book is clean and tight, with few signs of previous use. There is some discolouration along the seem between pages throughout the book. The paper has darkened somewhat, and the top edge of the text block is dustted. The front fixed end paper has an inked price of 20 cents. The beige covers are clean with light wear to edges and corners, and shallow bumps at the top and bottom of the spine. The dust jacket is in Fair condition, with general wear and handling, with the worst problem being about 1 ½ inches of paper missing from the bottom of the spine. The attached scan shows this in detail. The jacket is now in protective mylar.

Sound and square binding in blue, cloth-covered boards, with silver C in box stamped on upper board. Text block edges are a little dusty, with faint foxing. Inside pages are clean and unmarked. Dust jacket has insect predation damage along the flap folds. Large chip to top edge of front panel which affects the title. Wear to spine ends, less so along the other edges, but sitll a few tiny chips and creases. Now in protective mylar. A Cavendish Library edition of this story, which is a sequel to Lucy Maud Montgomery's children's novel Pat of Silver Bush. .

HC/DJ Early reprinting after the Stokes 1935 edition, but prior to the war. Soundly bound in original color pictorial dust jacket. Thatch pattern blue cloth title lettered in brown. Cloth color blanched in the joints. Usual and expected toning to the endpage gutters nearly ubiquitous in books printed in the 1930's. Some moderate silverfish pitting to page block front edge; prior owner short penned note to front endpage, presumably referring to date and location of purchase. Pictorial dust jacket nuicked with shallow chipping at spine ends; rubbed with a handful of short closed tears at edges. Mild shelf soiling and toning to jacket spine. VG-/G++ .

The book we are offering has a slight spine slant and a touch of discoloration to the outer edge of the front board. Faint former owner's name to top of front free endpaper. Erasure mark to rear pastedown. Binding tight. Contents unmarked. The dust jacket is torn and creased but virtually totally intact save for some small loss to the seam of a close tear at the top. It shows some scuffing with wear to the hinges. Two small red smudges to rear panel. Still in fair to good condition and now seldom seen. Top edge not stained green as stipulated by Lechowick, 'A Collector's Guide to L. M. Montgomery First Editions' (p. 113), but ten titles listed verso title page. An otherwise unmarked copy in dust jacket, with dust soiling to the rear panel.
