The Blue Fairy Book, first published in 1889, was the first volume in the series and so it contains some of the best known tales, taken from a variety of sources. It assembled a wide range of tales, with seven from the Brothers Grimm, five from Madame d'Aulnoy, three from the Arabian Nights, and four Norwegian fairy tales, among other sources.

A Good Copy of this book in publisher's original decorated and gold gilt embossed dark blue hardcover cloth boards, with gilt title lettering to spine and with faded/rubbed gilt decoration to spine, and gilt illustration of a wizard to the front cover. The book has maintained it's original black endpapers. There are no names or other details of previous owners inside. . All the page edges of the book are in gilt (AEG) , but the gilt is wearing thin in places. The Cloth at the ends of the spine has started to fray - see picture on abe or our own website at peakirkbooks. The cover corners are also worn , with the cloth splitting and the card just peeping through. There is a small closed tear, approx 1 cm, on the title page.
