Loosely inserted are two manuscript leaves, being the dedication poem "To C.M.P." in English and another version titled "O Love", in Latin. The first manuscript is signed by Binyon with the note: "Dedication to The Death of Adam". Although largely forgotten today, Binyon was in his day a central figure amongst poets that included Ezra Pound, Richard Aldington, and HD. He was also a respected scholar, working for the British Museum before and after the Great War, during which he worked as a hospital orderly both in France and in England.
