Rome: Nicolo Angelo Tinassi, 1676. First edition. Vellum. Very Good Indeed. 8.5" by 6.5". Anon. A very scarce, first edition copy of Agostino Martinelli's beautifully illustrated architectural study of bridges. With a portrait frontispiece of Pope Innocent XI, and 21 engraved plates, including 16 folding, 2 small folding plates and three single page plates. Rebound, in a recent half vellum binding with paper covered boards. Collated, lacking only the final blank. In the original Italian. A2 is damaged, with a facsimile of the leaf bound in prior to the original leaf. This work is a study of several bridges across the Nera and Tiber rivers. Tinassi also discusses the navigation from Perugia to Rome. A beautifully illustrated first edition copy of this study of Italian architecture.
