This is the Eighth Edition, Revised and greatly enlarged, published in 1875. In acceptable to condition. Brown cloth covered boards with blind-stamped border on covers and gold lettering on spine. Nicking chipping and fraying to cloth along edges, corners and spine with the underlying boards exposed in several spots. Moderate to heavy overall scuffing aging and soiling to covers as well. Front cover is all but separated from book and is hanging on by a few threads. Spine is cracked in several places and dedication page is separated and laid-in with a few other pages at the front starting to separate as well. With 15 fold-out plates in the back- of which four are missing. Eighth Edition, Revised & Greatly Enlarged. Signature of American author Thomas A. Janvier, dated 1891, on the front endpaper. Good (some chipping along spine and rear hinge; contents clean & tight). $50.00.

T. Nelkson and Sons, Paternoster Row. Used - Very Good. 1861. Hardcover. Cloth, no dj. 8vo. Blue cloth with gilt-stamped decorative title on front board and spine. Additional decorations stamped in blind. Volume in acetate cover, taped to edges of boards. Significant sunning to spine. Cloth of spine cut horizontally in several spots, causing it to fray and exposing gauze underneath. Cloth at head of spine partially worn away, some rubbing at tail. Additional minor rubbing to boards. Front hinge quite tender, exposing gauze. Front free endpaper loose, pulling away from hinge. Small stain at bottom corner of first gathering. Similar stain at bottom corner of last gathering. Foxing throughout text block. Slight tenderness at rear hinge, but remains firm, and binding is otherwise sound. With the exception of first three gatherings, text block is uncut. Nine fold-outs at rear of volume. Very Good. (Subject: Books).
