Actor Eddie Albert's debut feature film, and the set on which future husband and wife Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman would meet. Set at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, and shot there on location. 10 x 8 inches. Very Good plus, with light soil and edgewear.

The successful Broadway production of this comedic play about cadets at the Virginia Military Institute ran for 577 performances between December 1936 and April 1938. It also served as the basis for the 1938 William Keighley film starring Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman, who appeared in its sequel, Brother Rat and a Baby (1940), and were married the same year. Octavo. Original blue cloth binding, with red, yellow, and black stamping. Faint spot to the top edge. The dust jacket is a toned along the spine and extremities, with some minor edgewear; otherwise very good.

Very good in a good dust jacket. This is an exceptional presentation copy, inscribed in Monks’s hand, “To David Selznick/ A big man in a small studio - who turns out the good ones. With good wishes/ Johnny Monks & [in his co-author’s hand] Freddie Finkelehoffe.” Both authors went on to modest Hollywood careers.
