Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout however binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Peeling and loss to spine leather. Mild crushing to spine ends. Cloth has minor damp and dust stains.

Edinburgh: Gall & Inglis Circa 1880. Fancy Victorian style binding in original brown blindstamped cloth decorated in gilt on bevelled edge boards. The front cover has a central inset relief in red and gilt depicting a winged angel with lyre. With engravings on steel and illustrated borders. All edges gilt. Light rubbing to corners, front hinge neatly re-glued, contemporary inscription dated 1881 with name on flyleaf. An interesting example of Victorian bookbinding. . Hard Cover.

Usual library markings. Front endpaper cracked at the hinge with some surface damage to the front endpaper from sticker removal. Pages are yellowed but clean and soundly bound.
