New York : Gemor Press, (1945). First edition. "The unveiling of women is a delicate matter. It will not happen overnight. We are all afraid of what we shall find". One of 1,000 copies of the regular edition, illustrated with five woodcuts by "Ian Hugo" - Nin's husband Hugh Parker Guiler (1898-1985). His archive documenting his friendships with Gloria Swanson, Greta Garbo and other well-known figures is now housed at the Margaret Herrick Library, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Foolscap 4to (22cm). [iv],(184),[iv],[4]pp - including integral endleaves. Five woodblock illustrations by Ian Hugo. Original decorative boards in a Hugo design in maroon and cream; some very minor wear and a few slight marks; tiny sticker mark on rear board; endpapers a little tanned, but a very good copy.
