The White House, Washington D. C., 1941. Acceptable, with generational wear. Creases and several edge tears with age fade, tide spots and marks.. 10.5" 8", 1 pp. SIGNED "Franklin D Roosevelt". Roosevelt begins the letter to Luther C. Steward, President of the National Federation of Federal Employees, by sending regrets that he is unable to attend the biennial convention. Then he includes encouragement that the organization is on track to fulfill their civic and organizational responsibilities to the Nation. The National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) is a national union, currently representing approximately 110,000 blue and white collar government workers across the United States. Ratifying its constitution on September 17, 1917, NFFE was the first union to represent federal employees. Luther Corwin Steward took the helm of the organization shortly after its initiation and held the longest tenure of any NFFE President from 1918 until 1955. "Your letter is heartening…

Description:
Warm Springs, GA, 30 November 1928. Letter. Creasing and wrinkling. Very Good with a Fine signature. An interesting one-page letter on personal stationery to Mary O'Connor Eben of the Democratic National Committee. In full: "Dear Mary O'Connor:-- Many thanks for your mighty nice Thanksgiving greetings. All goes well here and the Tully child is behaving as well as possible, in view of the steady stream of newspaper boys who drop in here and forget the purpose of their visit as soon as they see her. We all leave, I think, on December ninth, and hope to see you when I get back. It must seem very queer to you to be a private citizen once more. I wish I were in your place. Always sincerely," and SIGNED "Franklin D. Roosevelt." Grace Tully started working for the Democratic National Committee in 1928, assigned to assist Eleanor Roosevelt who was organizing support for presidential nominee Al Smith. Later that year, when FDR was nominated for Governor of New York, Tully went to work on his staff. After…

Description:
Franklin D. Roosevelt decides a legal question allowing fish to be distributed in refrigerated meat trucks. "there appears to be nothing which would hinder the fishing industry from utilizing the refrigerator cars belonging to others" Roosevelt writes to U. S. Marshall John J. Murphy (Boston, MA) agreeing to allow the fish companies to transport fish in refrigerated cars belonging to meat packing companies. Murphy sent a 5 1/2 page typed memorandum, included, explaining in great detail the transportation problem faced by the fish industry. Roosevelt agrees to intervene to facilitate this practical solution. Roosevelt begins with a review of the problem Murphy described. "You state that that industry [fish industry] has a limited market because refrigerator cars used for transporting meat to the East are returned empty. You attribute the existence of this situation to the so-called 'Consent Decree' and propose that steps be taken to remove the restrictions in order that the facilities which are now…

New York, 1928. Very Good. Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945) typewritten personal letter, possibly secretarial signed, on private letterhead, dated October 17, 1928. Letter is written to George A. Essex of Chelsea, Oklahoma and contains references to Roosevelt's political philosophy. This letter was penned prior to Roosevelt's election as the 32nd President of the United States. The letter encourages Mr. Essex to support New York Governor Al Smith in his candidacy for president in opposition of Herbert Hoover. The contents of the letter are as follows: My dear Sir:I have not heard what decision you have made as between the two Presidential candidates, but remembering your firm belief in the policies and ideals of Woodrow Wilson, I am encouraged to hope that you have decided as I have decided - that under Governor Smith our country stands far more chance of returning to the path blazed out for us by our greatest President, than under the materialistic and self-seeking advisers who surround the…

New York: np, 1921. POIGNANT SIGNED LETTER FROM ROOSEVELT ON HIS RESOLVE NOT TO LET POLIO DEFEAT HIM. Very Good. POIGNANT SIGNED LETTER FROM ROOSEVELT ON HIS RESOLVE NOT TO LET POLIO DEFEAT HIM. Written just two months after being struck by polio at his summer home at Campbello Island, Roosevelt writes on October 5, 1921, to Henry Waring Chadeayne (Orange County lawyer and politician): My dear Mr. Chadeayne: I appreciate very much the action of the Democratic County Committee of Orange County in directing you to convey their sympathy to me. I also appreciate exceedingly the personal good wishes which you added on your own account. The doctors tell me I am getting along splendidly and I hope to be back in the game before so very long. Very sincerely yours, [signed] Franklin D. Roosevelt By October 5, 1921, the outlook for Roosevelt looked bleak. He was already suffering from paralysis with little hope for improvement, yet from the beginning Roosevelt fought with extraordinary resolve to…
