The first owner of this work was Dr Philip Wyatt Crowther (1752-1804) and Dr William Lodwick Crowther (1817-1885). Dr William was an honorary Medical officer at the Hobart Hospital. He was also appointed to the Court of Medical Examiners. In 1878 he was elected Premier of Tasmania. He partook in the controversial mutilation of the last 'full-blooded' Tasmanian Aboriginal male, William Lane. This book is from the Crowther family library.
