Hardcover first edition, with dust jacket, published by Doubleday, 1963. In which Richard Scarry adapts 31 fables by the 17th Century French writer, La Fontaine. Each one illustrated with his distinctive animals. 8-1/2" X 11", 60 pages, sewn binding. The dust jacket is not price clipped, with the original price of $3.25 appearing on the interior top corner of the front flap. The dust jacket has a tear at the front bottom, through the rabbit wearing the red cap, and a large chip on the back bottom. The chip on the back is about 1" tall by 2-1/2" across. Several smaller chips and short tears as well. Though the dust jacket has been covered with a clear, removable protective cover. This is not a library discard copy. The binding is intact and the text is clean, with no writing, and no former ownership marks on the text. The sewn binding is still tight with all pages intact with no looseness to the text pages. Doubleday & Company, January 1963. First Edition. Library Binding. Fair - Cash/No Jacket. Stated first edition with library binding. Heavier surface and edge wear to the cover. Soiling to the cover and pages. The corners have been bumped. The boards are beginning to show in the corners. Red tape at the top and bottom of the spine. There's a tear in the cover along the back edge of the spine that reveals soem of the boarding and binding. The cover is beginning to fray along the tear. There are several cracks in the spine throughout the book. Tape has been placed inside to keep the pages secure. Ex-library with the normal markings and stickers. The binding is still tight and pages are secure. Stock photos may not look exactly like the book.
