Edited by Paul Arthur Schilpp. With an autobiography of Lewis, a bibliography of his works, and with contributions from Chisholm, Sellars, Gotshalk, and others. Lewis' replies to the authors are also included in this volume. Honderich 482. Clarence Irving Lewis was a pioneer of modal logic and was the founder of the Lewis systems. However, Lewis also researched in epistemology, general value theory, social philosophy, and ethics. A name and a small abrasion on the free front endpaper, about three leaves have highlighting; jacket's spine panel is sunned and has a small closed tear to its front panel.
