Clean pages with no markings in the text. There is a name label on the inside front cover and a name printed on the front end paper. The front hinge is weakening, however the cover is firmly attached. There is light rubbing on the cover corner tips and spine ends. Waverley Novels Illustrated Cabinet Edition..

In very good minus quarter bright red cloth and French navy cloth, gilt titles to back strip. The covers are very tight and quite clean; corners and spine ends bumped and frayed. Unmarked red end papers. "The Clevedon Community Bookshop Co-operative Bindery Team" have split the end papers and re-glued with almost matching placket to strengthen the joint. Gilt top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are fairly clean. The text block is in very good condition, tightly bound, straight and unmarked. With frontispiece and title page b/w illustration. No dedications etc. Without jacket.

Boards have light edgewear with corner crushing and mild marking to boards. Heavy tanning to spine, which has mild crushing and tearing to ends. Hole to spine.

In very good dark green bevel edged cloth boards, with blind stamped ruled and decorative edges on all sides, gilt circle to front with gilt male head; gilt titles to back strip. The covers are very clean, bright, tight and straight. The end papers are foxed around the edges and lightly tanned; name and address sticker to front paste down (crossed out) and name and address in ink on front free end paper. Slightly age-toned cut edges; tinted brown top edge. The text block is in very good condition, tightly bound and clean except for the prelims which are foxed and lightly tanned. With many b/w illustrations and with attractive head pieces. Thought to be issued without dust jacket. Part of colllectable collection.
