Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Ex Libris plate to front pastedown. Heavy cracking at the hinges with exposed binding material. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout however binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Splitting and loss to spine joints, head and tail. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Gilt lettering is darkened. Ink stain to spine at front board.

In good plus green cloth boards with image in green and gilt of bird and gilt titles to front and also to spine and to rear board; the spine has a number referring to when a library book. The boards are a little wobbly from cracked joint, flat and quite clean; spine ends and corners bumped and frayed. Tanned free end papers; faded library stamp and number sticker to front paste down. Gilt top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are age-toned. The text block is quite tight, straight and not tanned or foxed, very good condition and excellent for age. With lovely b/w illustrations by A. T. Elwes. No dedications etc. One more faded library stamp on a Prelim. Without jacket. Sound copy for age.
