Inner and outer hinges are perfect. NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a library discard. A landmark work in the history of African exploration. Handsomely bound in contemporary marbled paper covered boards, with tan leather spine and corners. The leather backstrip has 7 raised bands and brightly gilt-stamped red and black leather spine labels. It is beautifully and elaborately tooled with black rules and leaf ornaments. The endpapers feature marbled paper in a fan pattern that matches the front and rear covers.
