Description:
New York : Lion 207, 1954. Book. Very Good to Fine. Soft cover. 1st Edition. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. This one's a classic, kids. We have a love-hungry cheat (Lorna), a peeping tom (Smith), a bold pushover (Phyllis), a brute (Vosper), and a street-walker (Millie), whose tenement is "A quiet place, though it seethed with the dark rumblings of evil and treachery." When a blackmailer is found with his head crushed in, "the quiet rumblings burst into depraved chaos." (God, but I love a good heart-warming story.) 159 pages + a one-page advertisement for another Lion title. Spine mildly cocked, thin horizontal handling crease to centre of front cover, short wrinkle on spine (printing flaw), light general wear. A fairly nice copy..
