Henry Altemus company, Philadelphia, 1925. Hardcover. Fair. Small format, hardcover, no dust jacket as issued. Spine is gone and has been re-taped. The boards are soiled, and the corners and edges are frayed. The pages show discoloration due to age and have foxing throughout. The color illustrations, done by the author himself, are still are very colorful. This book is in fair condition.

Classic children's adventure story featuring the character Little Black Sambo as he sets out on a dangerous adventure to find his father. Though not considered culturally correct anymore, this story is told with warmth and respect for all of the characters.
Binding is bumped at corners and spine ends with mild rubbing and scuffing. Hinge is loose but intact. One illustrated front endpaper appears to be missing. Pencil name on FFEP and on REP. There are 4 pages of advertisements for the Henry Altemus publishing company in their Wee Books for Wee Folks series.

Spine is intact, as is the picture laid on the front cover. Fep is missing, and the rear hinge is broken, although the cloth underneath is holding. The book is loose, with some soiling, but no crayons, thank goodness. No pages are loose. Remember that "good" in the book world denotes a complete reading copy. this is the first U.S. edition.; 4x5 1/2" .
