Quarter bound leather fine binding, marbled paper boards, with decorative gilt edging, gilt line banding and lettering to spine. Plain endpapers. In very good condition. Professional repairs with later leather to spine and corners. Boards darkened, edges rubbed and bumped. Bookplate to endpaper “Edward Forster.” Inscription opposite “Thos. Whately, 1819.” (possibly Nephew, not original author.) and inscribed again under main title “By Thos. Whately.” Some occasional minor handling marks and light spots to inside pages else pages all very clean and tight throughout.
