Gail Gardner's account is one of the best on cowboys in the area, Chapters in Volume I include: "The Cowboy Camp Meeting", "A Pioneer in the Verde Valley" with many illustrations. Volume 2 has Barry Goldwater's article on "Ambush in Mint Valley", Jerome the ghost city, early days doctors, merchants and "In the Shadows of Old Camp Hualapai".
