Description:
1890. Very Good -. 18.5 x 13 cm. card with pink-and-white embossed floral decoration on the front. Inside is a line drawing of a boy holding a buttercup under the chin of a girl, both in late 19th-century dress. Accompanied by a poem beginning "When the perfume of flowers is shed on the air." A former owner created a three-dimensional effect on the front by adding two layers of decreasing size. Although the original card is designed to be opened vertically, the additions create a horizontal effect. The middle layer is a chromolithographed view with a floral border. The top layer is a die-cut silver-and-white piece with a circular opening in the center framing the view in the layer below. A color cut-out of a child has been added on either side of the opening. Unique. In Very Good- Condition: loss at one corner of the original card; light soiling along edges of original card; otherwise, clean and bright.
