This is a marvelous set, "Giving an impartial account to the Divan at Constantinople of the most remarkable transactions of Europe: And discovering several intrigues and secrets of the Christian courts, (especially that of France) continued from the year 1637, to the year 1682." The set has seen considerable wear but remains in reasonable shape given its age. Bindings are intact in all. Full leather boards with gold stamping on front and rear. Head and tail bands. Spines with raised bands, gold stamping and paste on labels, most of which are missing. The leather is dry, rubbed and scuffed with cracking at hinges and noticeable edge wear. Each volume has two bookplates from previous owners, the most recent of which was placed in 1891. Several volumes have writing on the endpapers including a note about the author in volume 1.
