Description:
1902 three volume hardcover set as pictured. This is an interesting take on the history of the 19th century presented as a year by year chronology of events. The set has seen considerable wear but remains very readable. Includes many illustrations and 2 fold out maps. Bindings are generally intact though the FFEP and first four pages of volume 3 are detached. Front hinges of volumes 1 and 3 are cracked. Cranberry cloth boards with gold stamping are soiled and faded with fraying at edges and hinges. Corners bumped. Permanent marker writing on spine. Previous owner's name on front endpapers of each volume. Text is age tanned but appears otherwise clean and unmarked. No dust jackets. Price includes extra mailing cost due to weight. Description:
1852 leather bound hardcover as pictured. This is a beautifully made book that has seen better days. Binding is intact. Leather boards with embossed design and gold stamping are very worn and warped. Corners are bumped with underlying cardboard exposed. Most of the spine is missing. Front and rear hinges are loose. Marbled endpapers and edges. Pencil notations on half frontispiece. First few and last few pages are very mottled and water stained. The bulk of the text is lightly mottled. Many B&W engravings and one fold out map.
