Of his life nothing is known, though the Suidas says he became a Christian and a bishop and wrote a work on etymology, one on the sphere, and an account of great men. Front pastedown coming loose at lower outside corner, with tanning stains at extremities, also showing on rear ten leaves or so and endpaper; all leaves well tanned but evenly so for the most part with occassional spotting. Light pencil marginalia pages 73-134.; (i title, xiii) 182 pp. ; followed by Dialogorum Luciani (1) 76 pp. Original full brown calf, red leather spine label lettered in gilt. Text in Greek and Latin with notes in English. Bishop Jackson Kemper's copy with his ownership signature top leading corner of front endpaper. Lower edge of title a bit cropped so only the top of imprint and date show. Date, 1646 stamped on lower spine also. Self help via Cicero? .

Light foxing to prelims and title page; page iii trimmed a half inch bottom edge. Short, clipped catalogue entry pasted down on first blank, with a note in pencil below: "Bot of Pickering & Chatto, Sept. 05." An attractive copy, beautifully printed. Text in Latin. .
