CORONATION, THE WINNER OF THE DERBY STAKES, AT EPSOM, 1841 by John Frederick Herring, (1795-1865) engraved and aquatinted by Charles HUNT - Published in London by Messrs. S. & J. Fuller at their Sporting Gallery, Rathbone Place, W. , July 1841. This beautiful aquatint was printed on heavy wove paper and is in very good condition, free from foxing and with hand-coloring by Charles Hunt still very vibrant. The print is offered framed and the image size is 12 1/2 x 16 5/8 inches overall framed size, 27" x 23"A scarce and very special image of the celebrated Derby-winner "Coronation" by J. F. One of the very scarce engravings from the work commissioned by the Emperor Napoleon who retined the services of many skilled engavers and painters to complete the magnificent work depicting Egypt and its buildings. This plate is in very good condition, lightly, slight chipping at egdes, large ( 25" x 20" ) plate marks defined, depicts the temple at Fayoum and some of its bas reliefs. Germany: Joseph Kronheim. Very Good+ with no dust jacket. c1850. Print. This beautiful early color print, made by Kronheim as a licensee of George Baxter, the father of modern color printing, is in very good condition, full borders as published, very fine detail, shows a young women sitting pensively with landscaped background. Images available. Scarce. Joseph Martin Kronheim was born in Magdeburg, Germany on 26th October 1810. He moved to Edinburgh, via Paris, when he was 22 before becoming established at 32 Paternoster Row, London around 1846.In 1850, Kronheim acquired a license to operate the Baxter process and adapted the process, using zinc blocks instead of wood blocks. This, however, resulted in a flatter finish. He then turned to lithography for a short time, but soon returned to printing by the Baxter process. ; 5" x 3.5" .
