Description:
This is volume 1: Prewar to October 1943, The B-17 Era. This book is the 4th, in a series from this publisher called Eagles over the Pacific. The 3 previous volumes dealt with the 345th Bomb Group, the 22nd Bomb Group and the 312th Bomb Group. The 43rd started out on the Queen Mary in February, 1942, landed in Australia, absorbed the bedraggled 19th with their tired B-17's and changed the way the fighting was conducted. His Public service, military experience and writing are exhaustive. Four other writers contributed: Steve Birdsall, Madison Jonas, Edward Rogers and Osamu Tagaya. Illustrations are by Jack Fellows, again with the exhaustive resume as an aircraft illustrator. The last few pages are dedicated to a preview of volume 2 of the same bomber group. The author has inscribed and signed on the inside… Read More
