This is volume 1: Prewar to October 1943, The B-17 Era. This book is the 4th, in a series from this publisher called Eagles over the Pacific. The 3 previous volumes dealt with the 345th Bomb Group, the 22nd Bomb Group and the 312th Bomb Group. The 43rd started out on the Queen Mary in February, 1942, landed in Australia, absorbed the bedraggled 19th with their tired B-17's and changed the way the fighting was conducted. The result was a double Medal of Honor and 8 Distinguished Service Crosses. The book is in fine, like new condition, with only very minor shelf wear. Author Hickey's resume is too long to mention. His Public service, military experience and writing are exhaustive. Four other writers contributed: Steve Birdsall, Madison Jonas, Edward Rogers and Osamu Tagaya. Signed by Gen. Douglas MacArthur and Gen. Courtney Whitney. First Edition (presumed). Very Good / good. Autobiography of General MacArthur, Commander of the Pacific in WW II and The Korean War. Gen. Whitney was on MacArthurs staff in the Pacific and in Japan during the Korean war. The corners are rubbed, but not bumped. The spine is rubbed on the head and tail and the end pages are toned from laid in newspaper articles. The pages are clean and unmarked. The dust jacket is price clipped, torn halfway up the front spine and there is significant edge and shelf wear, but it's all there in one piece. General Whitney has inscribed and signed of the front free end page. General MacArthur has signed above Whitney (no inscription).

Signed, First Edition. Near fine - no jacket, as issued. Memoir of a serviceman who served in the Korean War with his twin brother. The brother never made it back. The author has led a life long effort to aid families of MIA's. Book has a bump on the bottom back corner and a dent at the edge on the back. The interior is unread and there is very slight shelf wear. The author has signed on the front free end page (no personalized inscription).
