Description:
The M K Brown Range Life Series, Number One. Written by the wife of Bob Duke, the last manager of the XIT to run cattle. Mrs. Duke was born in 1877. The ranch was the largest ranch under fence in the country, it is in the far northwest part of the Texas Panhandle. The book has 36 pages of b&w archival photos and 3 maps. Mrs. Duke kept a diary her whole life, which is the basis for the book. The book is in very good condition with slight foxing on the front edge. The corners are square, and the binding is tight. The dust jacket is worn at the front right edge and is torn on the back at the top. The co-author, Joe Franz was a history professor at the Univ. of Texas. He has inscribed signed and dated on the half title page. The book is protected in mylar.

He worked of the Dallas Times Herald for about 30 years until it closed. he photographed everybody from Elizabeth Taylor to Andy Warhol to the kitchen staff at Lucas B&B. There are approximately 100 b&w reproduction of his photographs. The Dallas Public Library purchased 28,000 photographs and 11,000 rolls of film from Hanson.
