Montague County is in North Texas, northwest of Ft. Worth. Founded in 1858, it was one of the westernmost settlements before you got to Comanche territory. I believe this book was published by the local Centennial Committee. Full of photos of locals, business, churches and institutions. The book is in very good condition. A little staining on the cover, pages slightly toned and some shelf wear. The pages are clean and unmarked and the corners are square.

The Four 6's Ranch in in North Central Texas. It was founded by 'Burk" Burnett in the 1890's. It's still a working ranch. The book documents the land, the livestock and the working cowboys. Yellowstone, the TV series was partially filmed on the ranch. The book is in fine condition. The dust jacket has only minimal shelf wear. The photographer, Wyman Meinzer, has signed, with an inscription, on the title page. Meinzer was the official Texas State Photographer.

The site near the Alamo, in downtown San Antonio was to be redeveloped for the upcoming American bicenntennial in 1976. They wanted to know what was under there, specifically the location of the South Wall of the Alamo. The Alamo, or correctly Mission San Antonio de Valero was completed in 1744, but the mission had been there before, just not the building. This is a report of the archaeological excavation conducted by the Center for Archaeological Research at the University of Texas at San Antonio. It was originally a working research document, but it became popular and this copy is the 3rd printing.

The Trammell Crow Co. points out that development is not necessarily the enemy of historic preservation. The Grant Building at 6th and Red River in Austin, Texas was a parking lot and when they were going to build the Grant Building there. They excavated the property and discovered artifacts from the Texas Republic days. There are 32 glossy paste down photographs: some archival and some contemporary. photos of archeological stuff they found down in the dig back in 1981. Author Briggs was the consulting archeologist commissioned by the Crow Company. The book has some old mold staining on the cover, some foxing and the pages are toned, and the corners are bumped. It's been well thumbed. It also smells a little musty. It's all there though and the binding is tight. This appears to have been a working book. I don't think it was issued with a dust jacket. They have digitized this book at some libraries, but I've not seen another copy.

One hundred and fifty years after cowboys tended livestock, cowboy boots are more popular than ever. This beautifully photographed book presents the best of the best. Author Beard is a rancher from Goldthwaite who wrote the "The Cowboy Boot" back in 1992. Photographer Beard is a nationally recognized artist with galleries in Santa Fe and Minnesota; he's also a cowboy boot collector. The book and jacket are in fine, like new condition.

A very large (11.5" x 14") book. Beautiful photographs of saddles and their accoutrements, including detailed information about making them and saddle parts. Also, archival photos. the book is in near fine condition with a little bruise on the front edges and edgewear on the top and bottom of the spine. The dust jacket has minor shelf wear and is also near fine. The book is almost unread.

The books are in near fine condition with only a small dent toward the bottom cover on volume 1. There is no dust jacket. The slipcase presents very well with very slight shelf wear. However, it is beginning to separate at the bottom.

First Edition. Fine / very good. Originally established as an Army outpost, it grew when cowboys drove cattle through there to market, then later the railroad established it as a major meat packing center. Lots of archival photographs, essays and stories. Ft. Worth is still a great, fun city; and I'm from Dallas. The book is in fine condition. The dust jacket has shelf and edge wear and is price clipped, thus very good+.

A great Dallas tidbit, the second church in downtown Dallas was torn down for a freeway mixmaster. The book is in near fine condition with only a slight wrinkle at the hinge on the front bottom spine.

Hundreds of b&w archival photos of people places and things in Clay County. The book has a water stain at the top of the cover, front and back. There is barely noticible warpage at the top of the pages. Otherwise the book is in excellent condition, the corners are square and the pages are clean and unmarked. The dust jacket has a one inch tear at the bottom front and edge wear and shelf wear. Listed as VG / VG.

One of the things that came out of it was Dallas' outstanding system of inner-city trails which connect all parts of the city from one recreation system to the next. There are a lot of maps. Very interesting proposals from 1992. There is no dust jacket, I don't think it was issued with one. The book is in fine, like new condition.

Muenster is north of Ft. Worth near the Oklahoma border, it is in Cooke County. The book has bumped corners, shelf wear and some soiling on the end papers. Some of the pages are slightly wrinkled at the top, but it has been gently read, the binding is tight and the pages are unmarked.
