Finland: Mosfilm, 1953. 1st Edition . No Binding. Good. An extremely rare Finnish A2 cinema-used poster for the Soviet-era, 1953 historical movie, Admiral Ushakov. The film was first screened in cinemas in Finland in November 1953 with no subsequent theatrical runs. This poster is not a modern reproduction or reprinting and nor is it Video/DVD-related This particular poster is a standard size 60cm x 40cm approx. It is in Good condition - fold-line to centre, free from pinholes or adhesive residue marks. There a few tears to the edges, the biggest of which is 1.5 inches long. No loss of paper involved and therefore easily fixable. The left edge in particular has a few small nicks and one proper tear. The poster is a trifle tanned, perhaps. Notwithstanding the former it remains a very attractive poster, beautifully illustrated in colour (artist name visible in the plate or stone).

Finland: Independent International Picture Corp, 1956. 1st Edition 1st Printing. No Binding. Fine. A very striking and uncommon, standard Finnish A2 cinema-used poster for the 1954 big-game hunting documentary, Africa Adventure, which follows a safari in East Africa led by famous hunter Robert Ruark. The film was released in Finland in 1956 with no subsequent theatrical runs. This poster is not a re-issue or a modern reproduction and nor is it Video/DVD-related. This particular poster measures 61cm x 40cm and was printed by Fotopaino Oy. The poster is in Near Fine condition with one small tear (less than half-inch) to the right edge and a short nick to the bottom edge. Minor creasing to the white border. There are neat single pinholes to the corners - quite difficult to detect. Appears to be a rolled poster with no definite folding creases. A very striking image - almost lithographic quality - in fantastic condition for a cinema-used poster.

Macdonald & Jane's, 1979. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. First Printing of the First UK edition. Never an easy book to find and now quite rare. This is a nice copy, tight and square, shelf-bumped at the corners and pushed at the spine tips a little. Remarkably fresh, white text-block, Macdonald's are/were probably THE WORST publishing house for their use of cheap paper-stock which browns easily. Free from owner names or stains etc, very Near Fine. The dustjacket is also in Near Fine condition with price of £4.95 at the front flap (many copies are unpriced). Minor rubbing to the spine tips and corners, slight creasing along the edges. A nice copy, uncommon thus.

The film was not released in Finland until well after the end of the war, 1951. Standard Finnish A2 size for a full-bleed, foyer poster, measuring approximately 15.5" x 22.5". No Printer information. Artist signed in the plate (initials). Condition: C7/8, Fine/Very Fine. A rolled poster with no folding crease. The poster has been mounted with adhesive. Residue staining along the top margin of the verso. Very minor bleed-through, hardly noticeable. One dismounting tear from the top edge, middle, 1.25 inches in length. Finland: Associated British Pathe, 1951. 1st Edition 1st Printing. No Binding. Very Good. An excellent cinema-used, first screening poster for the 1951 classic British comedy Laughter in Paradise starring Alastair Sim, George Cole, Beatrice Campbell & Audrey Hepburn (in a minor role for which she fails to get a credit on the poster). The film had only the one theatrical release in Finland and was next seen there on the television. This particular poster is 60cm x 40cm approx. Printed by Filmart Oy and artist-signed in the plate. It is in lovely cinema-used condition - Very Good or better - with staple holes at the corners and a small nick to the edge lower left. Minor handling creases, a folded poster with crease-line across the middle.

Helsinki: British Lion Film Corporation, 1949. No Binding. Near Fine. A cinema-used, Finnish poster for the 1948 movie SPRING IN PARK LANE, starring Anna Neagle and Michael Wilding. The film was first screened in Finland in March 1949 - appropriately, at the Ritz Cinema, Helsinki - and there were no further theatrical releases. A big winner at the box office it is apparently one of the highest-grossing British movies of all time. It obviously enjoyed a long run in Finland because - based on presentation only (I have never seen another example) - this does appear to be a reprinting from the era but this is an educated guess only. London: Viking & Puffin Books, 2001. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. First Printings, the first three novels in the Artemis Fowl series. Each of the books are unread copies in As New condition, each copy has been signed by Eoin Colfer at the title page and each copy includes associated ephemera - the crack-the-code leaflet in vol 1, bookhanger and traditional bookmark (also signed) in vol 2, bookmark and very scarce Ottakars competition leaflet in vol 3. Text-blocks are each lightly toned or tanned as usual with these titles but each book is in collector grade condition.

Dustjacket worn at the extremities and has ancient sellotape repairs to the corners on the inside. Still looks good, an attractive little book.

Michael Joseph, 1975. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. An exceptionally rare SIGNED copy of the sequel to his first novel, Billy Liar. Keith Waterhouse was one of the UK's most prolific comedy-writers, journalists, novelists and screenwriters of the 60's through to the 90's and beyond. Amongst his screenwriting credits are Whistle Down the Wind and the Hitchcock movie Torn Curtain With his writing partner Willis Hall he was responsible for the television series The Frost Report, That Was The Week That Was, Worzel Gummidge and many others. His novel Billy Liar brought him international fame follwing the John Schlessinger movie. Signed copies of his works are remarkably scarce. A reasonable copy - edges a bit darkened but the block is reasonably fresh, no owner names etc. A touch of sunning to the backstrip near crown where the dustjacket is chipped. The dustjacket flaps are intact - that's the good news. Otherwise, badly chipped despite numerous sellotape reinforcements on the inside. Very badly chipped and in poor condition overall.

Zanuck movie, Blood and Sand starring Tyrone Power, Rita Hayworth, Linda Darnell and Anthony Quinn. The film was released in Finland in 1942 and had no subsequent theatrical runs thereafter. This poster has a few condition issues including some damp-staining and nicks to the edges. Cinema-used and therefore with pinholes at the corners and at the top left there is minor loss of paper. Folds still quite visible. Between Fair and Good condition, extremely scarce.

Chipped at the corners and at tope edge of the rear panel, minor nicks and tears but still looks good, an attractive little book.

Finland: Films Lutétia/S.L.P.F., 1957. No Binding. Fine. An uncommon Finnish "tour" poster for the French movie Cette Sacre Gamine, known in English as "Naughty Girl" and starring Brigitte Bardot. Naughty Girl was first screened in Finland in 1957 and was never re-released. Dimensions: 15.25 inches x 23.50 inches.In superb un-used condition - no pin-holes, tape residue marks etc. No edge wear to speak of, As New - or very near it - apart from some minor creases. Accompanied by a postcard-sized photographic image (on paper) of Bardot which has been hand-signed by the film legend. Will frame together very well. CONDITION GRADE - C6 - VG with some faults The poster was distributed folded and there is a folding crease to middle. 2 x staple holes to each corner and secondary pinole top right. Small nick to right edge, 3/4 inch tear right edge which as been nicely repaired with sellotape to verso. Small water stain to verso, does not bleed through. Some handling creases.
