The debut collection of poems by respected teacher Jaan Kurn (1893-1981) and simultabeously the most scandalous poet of the time Ralf Rond (pseud) known for his radical leftist views. Rond's the most significant merit as a poet is that he was first to introduce Mayakovsky to Estonian public. Published by a small publishing house in Narva, the book included 22 author's original poems with visible futurist inclinations written under Mayakovsky influence and 5 translations of Mayakovsky's works. Gifted Latvian poet, writer, literary critic Pēteris Ķikuts (1907-1937) known for his radical leftist views. Was accosiated with the leftist avant-garde literary circle Trauksme (Alarm, 1928-1930) and other revolutionary editions. In his writings, Kikuts sharply attacked Social Democrats, defended the interests of the revolutionary working-class, and praised the Soviet Union, showing its tremendous achievements in building socialism. Was imprisoned several times in bourgeous Latvia. Because of the persecutions he had fled to USSR in 1932. The fourth book of poems (of five published) by Juozas Tysliava (1902-1961), a young Lithuanian poet (sometimes reffered as Lithuanian Mayakovsky), member of the Keturi vėjai (Four Winds) group influenced by futurism. While studying journalism in Paris he published two issues of a multi-language avant-garde journal MUBA in 1928. In 1932 settled in the United States.
In Tysliava's verse neo-romantic tradition and futurist innovation go together. His poems combine the lyricism of nature with urban motives. Current collection of poems is substantially different from the other works of this genre. Originating as an unique experiment by two avant-garde poets Juozas Kruminas and Danas Pumputis, in which they wanted to create a kind of literary rebellion denying the importance of inspiration, phenomenos of Muse and Parnassus. An experiment took place at Konrad Cafe. Each of the poets had to write a poem on the theme proposed by the guests, so that writing would not have lasted longer, than an hour.
