No date, but the preface to the Seventh edition is dated 1939. Some toning to pages, but a clean, sturdy copy. Front and rear hinges neatly reinforced with what appears to be publisher's original tape. Somewhat uncommon; Library Hub records only three holdings in the UK, WorldCat has 13 in the US and a further two in Continental Europe, in varying editions.

Title to tp in red lettering. pp. 1552. Vira's mission - see Wikipedia for further details - was inter alia to create a technical and scientific lexicon for Hindi and India that met the needs of the modern world. To this aim, he coined some 150,000 neologisms, most with Sanskrit roots. Text mostly in triple columns and in English and Hindi (devanagari script). Some light wear to boards, joints, upper tips pushed, pages toned to margins, very faint spotting to top edges, gift inscription to flyleaf in English, another inscription in devanagari, bookseller's pencilled price. Internally clean and unmarked, still a very sound, firm copy.

No further loss of text, but some nibbling to leading page edges up until p.16. A worn, well used copy. Still uncommon in an earlier printing.

Cloth quite worn, rubbed to spine ends, some marks. Binding still holding well. Previous owners' names to front pastedown and flyleaf. Scarce in the first, with eight institutional holdings recorded on LibraryHub.
