Cambridge University Press. Very Good. 1931. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. An early report on Leakey's East African Archaeological Expedition after two seasons of excavation. Leakey also published a more detailed account in 1935 under the title "The Stone Age Races of Kenya". Details on the excavations are not discuss since investigations into the findings were still in progress. Included is 31 black and white plates and two folding maps in the back. Book is about VG, some stains internally and on the fore-edge. Provenance - The Esmond Bradley Martin Collection. Esmond was an American conservationist based in Nairobi, Kenya, particularly known for his work in stopping the illegal trade of ivory and rhinoceros horns. Martin was stab to death in his Nairobi home in 2018 under suspious circumstances, possibly due to his work on combating the illegal trade in ivory and rhino horn. .

An uncommon copy of this important work by Leakey, this follows on his earlier publication in 1931; "The Stone Age cultures of Kenya Colony". In the earlier publication Leakey promised to follow up with a work that gives detailed information of the various skulls, skeletons and fragmentary human material found in association with Kenya Stone Age Cultures, which is discussed at length in this volume. Detailed information on the age of the material in particular the Oldoway skeleton, is covered in detail. The book is inscribed to Steve (Stephen Landan) , but strangely is incorrectly dated 27th Oct 2000, which is clearly a mistake since the book was released in 2002. The signature and provenance seems to be fine however. Also included is an unsigned Abarat : Days of Magic and a flat signed US first Abarat: Absolute Midnight. The latter book has a bump to the bottom of the front cover. Except for the bump the books are in Near Fine or better condition with Fine DJ in brodart jackets.
