[Tel Aviv] : Hotsaʼat Daʻat, [1950?]. Trade card, 60 x 83 mm; recto with colour offset-printed design, verso with publisher's name; worn at top corner, otherwise in good condition. Number ""9"" in a series of early Israeli trade cards depicting countries of the world. Although the flag is accurate, the Indigenous Australian is unaccountably represented by a graphic of a generic African drummer.

Sepia-tone gelatin silver print photograph, 155 x 210 mm; verso with the wet stamp of 'S. J. Dailey, Photographic Artist, 151 Franklin Street, Adelaide', and a fully contemporary caption in pencil: 'Timber cutting, Kangaroo Island, S. A.'; the print has a few short edge tears and some loss at the corners; nevertheless, it is an exceptionally sharp image with a wealth of detail, including of the timber cutters and their implements, larger equipment, a storage shed and bullock teams and drays - plus, of course, lots of scattered timber debris in the foreground. An historically significant photograph documenting the timber cutting industry on Kangaroo Island in the 1890s. It was taken by professional photographer S. J. Dailey, first president of the South Australian Photographic Society. Trove locates no other examples of this image in Australian public collections.

By Alexander Dalrymple, first printed in 1767, reissued with a foreword by Kevin Fewster and an essay by Andrew Cook. Sydney : Hordern House Rare Books for the Australian National Maritime Museum, 1996. Octavo, full blue calf, lettered and ruled in gilt, blind embossed, pp. 47, xxxi, 103., [5] leaves of folded plates. The deluxe edition, limited to 50 copies specially bound, signed and numbered by the author, housed in a buckram clamshell box (a trade edition of 950 copies were also published). Original prospectus loosely enclosed. Provenance : Rodney Davidson, his bookplate to front pastedown and inside box lid, his original invoice and correspondence with the publisher loosely enclosed.

Sydney : F. J. Thwaites, [1930?]. Small quarto, publisher's cloth backed pictorial papered boards, front pastedown with later ex libris, front free-endpaper with two early child owner inscriptions, 62 pp, illustrated with 8 full-page colour plates and line drawings in the text; a fine copy. Muir 1867. Scarce. Five copies are recorded in Australian collections (Monash University Library; National Library of Australia; Deakin University Library; State Library of New South Wales; University of Melbourne Library).

Two albumen print photographs, carte de visite format, 101 x 64 mm (mounts), 90 x 57 mm (images), versos with imprint of Dalton's Royal Photographic Gallery, Sydney; the albumen prints with some tiny ink spots, otherwise both cartes are in very good condition. The American opera singers Henry Squires (1825-1907) and Lucy Escott (1827-1895) arrived in Australia in 1861 with William Saurin Lyster's opera company. They performed throughout Australasia during the 1860s, with Escott as the company's prima donna. The Australian music historian Harold Love commented: 'Between them, aided by Lyster's promotional flair, Escott and Squires created an audience for opera capable, on occasions at least, of packing the 3,300 seat Royal, and came as close as anyone apart from Melba has ever done in Australia to making it a form of mass entertainment.' London : William Darton, [1820]. Board game, engraved sheet (495 x 405), hand-coloured, dissected and laid on linen (some offsetting), publisher's advertisement label, in original publisher's card slipcase, marbled paper (edges worn), publisher's label and large illustrated title label with images of the animals; without the printed rule book. ONE OF THE EARLIEST CHILDREN'S GAMES TO DEPICT AUSTRALIAN ANIMALS. British and foreign animals is a variation on the Game of the Goose. The 37 tiles have representations of animals with different perceived moral qualities, the majestic Lion - the king of beasts - being the final central image. The penultimate tile is the Kangaroo, the image taken from the famous depiction by George Stubbs (1772), which was frequently reused by engravers across the following decades.
