Description:
The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me by Roald Dahl, 1st/1st, 1985London: Jonathan Cape, (1985). First edition, first printing. This is a near fine copy. The paper covered boards, illustrated by Quentin Blake, are with some slight corner wear and surface scratching. They are otherwise clean. The internals are clean and the binding is tight. The text blocks are clean. This copy is free from inscriptions and is, overall, in near fine condition.£95
Although the story is narrated in first-person by Billy, the word "Me" in the title refers to the monkey, who concludes every verse of his signature song with the phrase "the giraffe and the pelly and me".

Description:
New York: M. Knoedler & Co., Inc., 1972. First edition. This is a near fine copy. Boldly illustrated (as one would expect), the soft covers present Dalí alongside Nobel Laureate Dr. Dennis Gabor (who contributes a foreword) in 3D. There are some very light surface marks present. Dalí's signature is boldly signed to the front fly leaf in a magenta ink, which incidentally matches that of the font, and front cover design. The signature spans two pages, with Dalí accentuating the first letter 'D', swirling it into a spiral. It is dated seven years after the exhibition (1979). This is a scarce catalogue, more so with the great surrealist signing it so boldly and is, overall, in near fine condition. An exhibition catalogue, which describes and illustrates the artistic processes Dalí experimented with at the time. "All artists have been concerned with three dimensional reality since the time of Velasquez, and in modern times, the analytical cubism of Picasso tried again to capture the three dimensions of… Read More

Description:
London: John Murray, 1872. First edition, first printing, second state. This is a very good copy. In the original publishers green cloth, there are some condition issues which are common with most Darwin firsts. The cloth is raised in several places, most notably at the spine, and has some loss to the head of the spine. The corners are slightly bumped and worn in places. The misprint of "htat" is present on page 208. Complete with the 7 heliotype plates (3 folding). The internals are markedly clean, and the text blocks without any indication of foxing. This copy is free from previous owners ink and is, overall, in very good condition. A great work which is said to have "completed [Darwin's] great cycle of evolutionary writings. Inspired by the author's own 'mysterious physical symptoms', for which he sought medical advice in 1838.

Description:
London: Faber & Faber, 1961. First edition, first printing. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper is beautifully illustrated by Edward Bawden and has not been price clipped (18s net). There is a major tear to the spine and some moderate wear to the spine tips. There is also some red marking to the rear panel. There is some minor wear to the publishers cloth at the spine tips, and some light bumping to the corners. The text blocks are mostly bright and clean, with no notable foxing. The authors signature is signed to the front fly leaf in black ink: 'Yours sincerely Alfred Duggan'. This copy, overall, is in very good condition and wildly scarce signed. As the Vikings invade ninth-century England, only Alfred the Great, King of the West Saxons, takes a stand in this epic novel of medieval warfare.

Description:
London: Faber & Faber, 1968-70. First editions, first printings. This is a near fine pair. Both dust wrappers, in their distinct style, have some very slight handling marks and surface wear. Neither have been price clipped and show the original 25s and 30s respective prices. The internals are clean in each case, and the text blocks notably clean, though the top edge of Tunc is mildly foxed. The Book Society Choice band, present on Tuncis without notable wear and correctly shows the novel title on the front flap. Overall, this is a near fine pair of Durrell's 'The Revolt of Aphrodite' duet. The individual volumes, Tunc and Nunquam, were less successful than his earlier 'Alexandria Quartet' in part because they deviate significantly from his earlier style and because they approach more openly political and ideological problems.
