A Near fine copy in lovely fresh, tight, clean condition in very good jacket. No inscriptions. The text supported by numerous photographic reproductions in colour. The jacket has not been price-clipped. It has an expertly closed nick (with slight rubbing) to the upper corner of the rear flap of the jacket and a couple of creases to the extreme upper corner of the rear flap. The jacket has light or slight shelf wear. A lovely, fresh, clean, tight well preserved copy in very good jacket.

Original publisher's brown cloth - gilt embossed to the spine and stamped in black to the front board. Black endpapers. Tissue-guarded frontispiece of the author. Some moisture damage to the upper 2 board corners - more noticable to the rear one with slight associated marking to the upper corners of the endpapers and still less so to the extreme upper corners of the last 3 leaves. A good plus or very good minus essentially clean, tight copy of this the first edition.

There is a light bump to the tail of the spine and a little soiling to the head of the front board. Slight bump to the tail of the front board. There is a little soiling to the front fore edges, not affectiing the page margins. No inscriptions. Clean and tight The dust wrapper has not been price clipped and has been laminated, resulting in a little creasing to the wrapper. No nicks or tears. A very good copy in a good plus wrapper.

Neat black ink numbers to the tail of the spine , two barcodes to the rear end paper and Charterhouse Library stamps to the fore edges. No bumps, clean and tight. Dust wrapper has some fading to the spine with neat black ex-library numbers to the tail of the spine of the wrapper and ghosting from a previous label across the tail of the spine of the wrapper. A couple of short tears and niks, now expertly repaired to the wrapper edges. Neat crease to the corner tip fo the front inner flyleaf and one vertical crease to the rear flap of the wrapper. Quite a scientific approach to the study of nature. with numerous line-drawings throughout and black and white photographic plates. Volume i, 212pp, Volume ii, 222pp. Volume iii, 228pp Volume iv, 210pp. Volume v, 224pp. Volume vi, 222pp. - general index to rear. No ink inscriptions - the very occasional pencil annotation. The odd bumped board corner and some light marking here and there to the boards. Some foxing to each volume - more chiefly to the fore-edges and endpapers where in places it is quite notable. A very good, tight set that would look handsome on any bookshelf.

Putnam first) which is relevant because it has 'Berkley' to the tail of the jacket and not Putnam. The jacket has been illustrated by Vincent Di Fate - it has around 9 bodies drifting into space from a tower which rises from the sea and is predominantly blue. No inscriptions.
