Good condition. Scarce copy of this account of the first congress of the Club Alpin Francais (CAF), or French Alpine Club. The club was created in 1874 to promote mountain sports, and has since grown into a federation of clubs with 241 associated organizations comprising tens of thousands of people. 1906. San Francisco Earthquake Photos--16 Glass Plate Negatives Attributed to George Fiske Glass Negatives measure 4 x 5 inches. Generally, in very good condition. Several have light flaking to emulsion at edges. Many exhibit a light silvering halo which gives scans a bluish tint. Composition, toning and exposure generally strong. No information written on negative; all have newer small white labels with four-digit numbers. All negatives have been scanned and digitally converted into positives. Buyer will receive glass plate negatives. Very Good Condition. Interesting collection of photographs documenting damage from the San Francisco earthquake. Attributed to noted San Francisco and Yosemite photographer by auction house via their consignor. Negative box includes holograph note in pencil, "G Fisk" (sic). George Fiske (1835-1918) is best associated with his landscape photography of Yosemite National Park. With previous folds with one inch of archival tape at fold on verso plus archival tape along edges from mounting. One stab hole upper left. Includes laid down clipping from Baltimore Sun Newspaper from December 28, 1875. Very Good Condition. Tickets are taped to mat board, showing example of verso and recto of ticket from 1865-1866 season. Ticket color likely faded from a rose color. Very Good Condition. Pair of tickets for Ford's Opera House, the same season in which President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, April 14, 1865. The tickets are laid down on mat board; verso of each is not visible. [Signed][Etching] Dreamer, The Zinc plate etching measures 17 1/2 x 15 3/8 inches (plate size). Artwork has not been examined outside of mat board and shrink wrapping. Mat board is 24 x 20 inches. Appears to be in fine condition. Robert Freeman was born on the Rincon Indian Reservation in 1939. He is Hunkpapa Sioux and Luiseno. In 1967, Robert Freeman decided to become a professional artist. By the late 1970's he was on his way to a promising career with exhibitions throughout the United States. By the 1980's and 90's Freeman had won over 200 art awards and had become an international artist with exhibits in Mexico, Canada, Germany, Japan, Senegal West Africa, and the Vatican in Rome. Letter Press File, Cripple Creek Mining District, 1909-1910 12 ¼" x 10" letter press file book, moderately worn, soiled and chipped. 1000 leaves of letter press in varying degrees of legibility, though mainly clear and in Very Good condition despite the expected soiling at edges and wrinkling to the onion-skin pages. Predominantly typescript with handwritten addenda and signatures; a few wholly manuscript. Additional 60 pp. index of correspondents, handwritten, at rear of book. Letter press leaves can be a little daunting to read however by placing a white sheet behind each leaf we find them fairly easy to read. This is a letter press file book documenting two years of activity in the Cripple Creek Mining District of Colorado. It was kept by Hildreth Frost, a prominent figure in mining. Frost earned his law degree from Harvard and worked as a lawyer on matters relating to the mining industry in Cripple Creek and Leadville, Colorado.
