Irving Goodman formed exceptional collections of Russian, Chinese and Asian coins at a time when there was little "Western" market activity in these areas. The importance of this sale is testified to by the fact that anonymously published Russian translations exist and Russian price guides have been based upon it.

Superiorís binder seemed inadequate to the task of preparing these special editions; as nice as the photographic plates are, they are almost never bound properly in this sale. The poster was first advertised for sale in Rare Coin Review No. 49 (October-December 1983).

Covers spotted; near fine. Quite rare. This catalogue was virtually unknown until the systematic researches of Martin Gengerke uncovered a copy in the American Numismatic Society Library. Stack's Galleries was a subsidiary of the main firm and was intended to handle antiquities and related material. This seems to be the only one of its catalogues to include coins. The last five pages of text comprise 66 lots of coins (lots 382-447 inclusive), about equally divided among Greek and Roman coins, and the last three plates (XIV-XVI) depict both sides of 19 Greek and 11 Roman coins.
