Signs of wear, rubbing at edges and on hinges. Bumped corners. Book has very slight forward tilt. Binding slack, cracking to inner hinges but book contents reasonably firm. Page edges browned, scuffed and a bit marked. Previous owner name and scribbled out name to front free endpaper. The odd mark to page surfaces and occasional pencil marking but otherwise clean. Bumped corners and a bit bumped at base of spine also. Signs of shelf-wear at edges of boards and spine. Binding firm. Page edges tanned and a little scuffed but reasonably clean. Measures around 8 5/8" by 5 5/8" by 1 12/". Red cloth boards and spine with gilt lettering and detail to spine. Some fading to spine though gilt still visible. Boards are a bit scuffed and marked but generally clean and have largely retained their colour. Signs of rubbing and shelf-wear, small tear at top of spine. Corners bumped and a little torn. Inner hinges are cracked, especially front one, where textblock only attached by a small amount at base. Page edges browned, foxed and marked. Previous owner inscription to FFEP and library sticker and stamps to rear pastedown. Plate between pages 202 and 203 has jagged edges and is partially loose. The odd little tear to an edge here and there and a little foxing to page surfaces but no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.

This print/plate was taken from a book containing two titles in one: 'Riding' by Captain Robert Weir and others; and 'Polo' by J. Moray Brown. Part of the Badminton Library series. Published in 1902 by Longmans, Green, and Co., London. Minor marking and scuffing, more visible mark to upper edge (see pictures) but mostly clean. Mounted and matted with white and cream acid-free card, measuring 9" x 7 (22.8cm x 17.8cm) with a window size of a little under 7" x 5" and comes in a cellophane bag. This would make for a lovely gift and may appeal to those interested in the work of artist G. D. Giles, equestrian, horse-riding or sport generally.
